Kim has expertise in resolving claim denials and underpayments across a range of payers, providers, and denial reasons, with the upshot being millions in additional revenue for our clients. She has dealt with commercial payers as well as Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and Blue Cross, across diverse issues such experimental drugs, medical supplies, DRG downgrades, level of care, and outlier days. When necessary, she has sought review from third parties such as state Medicaid agencies, Independent Review Organizations (IROs), and administrative hearing offices, earning favorable judgments on behalf of our clients while defending them against external audits. She has represented different types of facilities and health systems, from acute care hospitals to children’s hospitals.

Before coming to HLS, Kim had extensive experience in healthcare law. At the AARP Foundation Litigation, she drafted amicus briefs in multiple states and interviewed class members for class action lawsuits. She researched Medicare and Medicaid regulations at the DC Department of Health Care Finance, and later at the National Council on Aging. She also had general litigation experience at a business law firm.
