Michael has been practicing healthcare law for the past 15 years. His legal career started In the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia (Civil Division). His prior practice focused on False Claims Act (Qui Tam) matters, adverse actions against physicians, medical licensing board matters, CMS debarment proceedings, and appeals, audits by recovery audit contractors and zone program integrity contractors, Peer review proceedings, and National Practitioner Databank actions. 

At HLS, Michael focuses on medical necessity denials, technical denials, and coding denials in the context of emergency department presentations, observation monitoring, and Inpatient hospital stays. He also works on complex reimbursement matters with out-of-state hospitals/providers.
