As a newly minted attorney, Desiree discovered the world of healthcare law and was fascinated by its complexity. She saw how hospitals and health systems struggled with the volume and intricacies of legislation and mandates, and how this created a need for a sophisticated legal collections process in order to appeal medical claims denied by third-party payers. With this in mind, she founded Healthcare Legal Solutions, pledging to offer a level of service going above and beyond what other firms in the field were able to provide. She has built HLS’ client base from the ground up by marketing the firm and managing relationships with high-level executives at various hospitals and health systems. She has developed and overseen new projects tailored to the clients’ individual needs. She is also responsible for directing and leading the HLS team.

Desiree’s principal area of practice is in healthcare with a focus on revenue cycle and third-party payer disputes. She focuses on healthcare provider clients with an emphasis on managed care, governmental, state, and third-party payer reimbursement. She has represented hospitals involved in reimbursement and coverage disputes with insurance companies and other third-party payers. Desiree has settled claims by carefully scrutinizing the provider’s managed care contracts and drafting administrative appeals. She has represented major corporate chains and obtained millions of dollars in reimbursement for clients.

Prior to working for HLS, Desiree worked at the law firm of Cadeaux & Taglieri, PC, a personal injury law firm. She assisted in all stages of litigation relating to personal injury, negligence, automobile accidents and insurance litigation. She also prepared wills and healthcare powers of attorney for the George Washington University administrative law clinic, and edited and cite-checked footnotes for the Environmental Lawyer. She also had a stint in academia, serving as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Virginia and as an Adjunct Professor at the George Washington University and George Mason University.
